Yes, I’ve been pretty lazy in documenting our trips 😞, which on the other side is a good sign that our trips haven’t been boring.  This year we decided to explore Germany’s north with a little side step to the Netherlands at the end. Starting with a family reunion in Hannover we continued to Berlin where we stayed at the highly recommendable campground in Gatow . This campground near the Havel river is ideally located to explore Berlin while staying in the lush green belt of the city. The next stop was a campground near Zislow at the Plauer lake about 150 Kms north of Berlin. Our spot was right on the lake and ideal for watching the sunset sitting on the narrow beach with a local brew at hand. The awning of our Hero Camper took the heavy thunderstorm with ease while we were sitting inside listening to our favorite chillout playlist on Spotify. After the thunderstorm a number of awnings on the surrounding campers had said „farewell“ to their owners. It really payed off to strap down the awning.

After 6 days on the lake with short trips to picturesque Waren an der Müritz it was time to try out the Huttopia de Roos campground near Beerze in the Netherlands. What a fantastic campground. Located on the river Vechte it’s more like a park than a campground reflecting the Huttopia philosophy of protecting nature while offering all amenities for a relaxed stay.  The river was warm (22 degrees) and ideal for swimming while hiking in the surrounding forest provided a cool(er) alternative.

As always, those 3 weeks passed much too fast but Heidelberg greeted us with perfect sunshine and another heatwave. Our next trip in September will take us to Alsfeld for the Landy con Classic.

One Life. Live It!
